Born and raised in the Columbia area, Glenn Betz began his apprenticeship as a jewelry craftsman in 1941 with one of the region’s finest jewelers.  In 1945, Mr. Betz settled in St. Louis as a designer and master craftsman to prominent jewelry concerns including Mermon-Jaccard-King.  He crafted the official pins of the “royal courts” of several annual Veiled Prophet Balls, St. Louis’ premier social event.

In 1969 he became sole proprietor of Glenn Betz & Associates.  Since then, the Betz family, Glenn, L’Mont, Craig, Nelda, and other loyal associates, have built a solid business with a reputation for superior standards, exquisite design, and personalized service.  The Betz name is known to many in St. Louis and throughout the nation for the high quality of all their merchandise.

A generation later, the family name returned to central Missouri in the person of L’Mont Betz (pronounced el-mont).  L’Mont, with his family’s proud support, announced the opening of L.C. Betz Associates, Division of Glenn Betz Associates, Inc. in September of 1983.  A graduate of the UMC Business School, L’Mont grew up in the jewelry business along with his brother Craig.  With the experienced guidance of their father, he became involved in every aspect of the trade from grading stones and manufacturing to customer service.

The Betz family experience and professionalism is on hand in the showroom offices of L.C. Betz Associates in downtown Columbia.  Visitors will note that the showroom features fine jewelry and watches only.  “Our family specializes in fine jewelry, and specifically in diamonds,” states L’Mont.  “I know I can best serve my clients by staying within my area of expertise.”
